Departments should develop their own departmental emergency procedures in the event the University is threatened by a storm.
Steps to take in order to prepare your work area:
- Clear desktops completely of paper and other articles, and place these items in drawers or file cabinets.
- Back-up critical computer files using OneDrive.
- Unplug all computers and other electronic equipment, cover with plastic, and tape down.
- Move desks, file cabinets, computer systems, and irreplaceable materials away from windows and at least two feet off the ground floor.
- Lock file cabinets and desk drawers.
- Close and lock windows and lower blinds.
- Lock and secure all doors.
- Remove all loose items (garbage cans, chairs, tables, plants, etc.) from outside the buildings.
- Take all of your personal possessions home.
Don’t return to the workplace until the "all clear" is given from University officials.
